There were only 3 channels at the time and they were off the air by midnight, unfortunately my oldest did not take the hint of sleep. She did not sleep much at all and I needed something for those long, long, LONG nights. I'm such a TV junkie...so sad really. We don't have cable either, for the exact same reason. We don't even have a fancy flat screen TV because it would just end up be an expensive piece of furniture. Our three year old doesn't let us sit still long enough to watch a whole show, and we would stay up all night losing valuable sleep watching TV without him. Three cheers for the converter box- we get 23 channels with an antenna in our attic! I loved your article. We don't have cable either, for the exact same reason. When M. Jackson died I watched many of his lesser videos for the first time. I finally got cable the year my youngest daughter graduated from High School in 2004 and moved out. They were all a bit miffed that I waited until they couldn't take advantage of it! <br /><br />Now that I have cable I bet my family still only watches perhaps 4 channels with great regularity. haha…I didn't have cable while bringing up my 3 daughters.
