Buffalo? Where in the world did you see buffalo? And so many? And how were you so close?

These are the questions that rain down on me anytime someone sees these photos.

Oh dear, sweet friends. All you have to do is get in your car and drive about an hour north of Tulsa to Tallgrass Prairie Preserve in Osage County.

It will be a mini-road trip of epic proportions. I guarantee it.

You will be driving along, soaking in the scenery around you (or, as some might call it, heaven), when all of a sudden you will turn a curve and see this:

It’s all the buffalo your little heart can handle. I’m fairly certain I shrieked.

I invite you to go on this journey with me, right now, but my hope is that you too will explore this slice of wonderfulness that is only a car ride away.

Great shots! I had not heard of that place before -But, have seen Buffalo at the Wichita mountains/Lawton area -quite a bit farther away from Tulsa though.

There is also some great hiking to be found there, but be mindful that there are TONS of ticks, so bring plenty of spray and check your legs every few minutes.

It really is a beautiful part of the state.
