Where to Pop the Question in Tulsa

Where to Propose in Tulsa

Spring is around the corner, and apparently, love is in the air. I’ve received not one, but three messages from readers this week asking where in Tulsa is the best place to pop the big question. You know the one: “Hey, sugar lips. Will you marry me?”

So, TDT readers, I decided that I’d turn it over to you. Where is the best place in T-Town to ask someone to marry you?

I was proposed to at the very end of the Pedestrian Bridge. It was absolutely beautiful! Downtown was lit up and just a gorgeous June night.

I agree that the Pedestrian Bridge is perfect! We recently photographed a beautiful engagement at that location. The groom had put together a fun clue hunt that led his fiance to the bridge where he proposed after the last clue. It was so memorable and romantic. Secretly adding a photographer to the engagement is a great way to capture the special moment so that you can share the day dad proposed to mom with your future children.

My husband proposed at the west end of the Pedestrian Bridge as well, on the night of Superbowl Sunday 2007. It was freezing cold but still and clear. The skyline was beautifully lit and reflected on the river like glass.

The second best place is probably in front of the Taco Bell at 48th and Peoria. This option is great for those couples who choose to think outside the bunĀ®.

We got engaged hanging out in Woodward Park sitting out by the Rose Garden :) But I think probably more important than just a popular local is one that means something to you and your sweetie, a place you can return to and have happy memories about and is just very ‘you.’

The cupola in Philbrook Gardens. I proposed to Linda in 2005at that location. Brought a small boombox and had our favorite song (Wonderful World, Louis Armstrong version) ready to play. Got her up there under the guise of saying we would have our picture taken by someone wandering around. Pulled out the music and pressed play, got down on my knee and asked her. It was great. And got our photo taken by someone passing by, just like I said!
It’s all about the set up, not just the location. Have a place to go to dinner or lunch, a NICE place, afterwards. Have a camera!

The old bathroom at Philbrook. It has a cool old bathtub and lots of wedgewood.

Plus you could say you got engaged in the john.

Here are some of the 17 comments on this question on Facebook: The Pedestrian Bridge; the rooftop bar at Mayo Hotel; Turkey Mountain; the gardens at Philbrook; Woodward Park; Center of the Universe; ONEOK Field during a Drillers game; Luchapalooza; David L. Moss (that’s the county jail); Walnut Creek State Park; and the bathroom at Philbrook (ha). Seems like the Pedestrian Bridge is in the lead…

And from Twitter: QuikTrip, the Taco Bell at 48th/Peoria; Cain’s Ballroom; Tulsa Rose Garden; Mary’s Trattoria; Celebrity Club; and the VIP room at The Ritz (a strip club). Yeah, my tweeps are definitely the rowdier, spunkier bunch (and I love them for that).

I proposed to my beautiful bride on Riverside trail by the Riverwalk. Great view of the river and the entire city of Tulsa. Chips + Salsa + Scenic View = YES

I popped the question on the 15th floor balcony on the Mid-continent building. It’s used as reception hall and I got the whole place to myself in the middle of the day. After a wild goose chase down the downtown tunnels, my now wife found me out on the balcony on bended knee.

I’ve been planning on the Pedestrian bridge because my girlfriend told me about it. Our first date we to a pedestrian bridge in Cincinnati where I live so proposing on another one in Tulsa whe she’s from would be awesome! Problem is…I do NOT know Tulsa. I’ve been trying to google the bridge and the riverwalk and I’m seeing two different pictures for the bridge. One is a narrow covered bridge with a dam underneath and the other is a wider open bridge. Which bridge is the most romantic? What is it close to so I know that I’m taking her to the right place? I’ll be depending on a GPS.

    John,
Just in case you are still looking hahaha! The Pedestrian Bridge is located between 31st and 21st, perpendicular to Riverside Drive. ;)
