As I complained in a TulsaKids Magazine blog post last week, it’s not always easy to reserve time for taking action to help our neighbors and improve our cities. We’re all too busy. Something’s got to give. Too often, that something is our community.

Dining Out for Life Tulsa is one way giving back is made easy. Plus, it’s a great excuse to stuff your face to the point that you have to be rolled home.

Sponsored by H.O.P.E. (Health Outreach Prevention Education, Inc.) and Tulsa restaurants, a portion of the proceeds from meals purchased at participating eateries this Thursday, April 28, goes to making a difference in the lives of thousands of men, women and children throughout our community by paying for local HIV services. You can bring the kids, your co-workers, your buds, your uncle who talks incessently about his stamp collection – anyone who enjoys a good meal is game, really.

Some of my favorite restaurants are participating in Dining Out for Life, including Elote Cafe, Fassler Hall, KEO, McNellie’s, Mod’s Coffee & Crepes, White Lion and Yokozuna. Even a coffee from Joebots will help this worthy cause. Here’s a complete list of restaurants participating in DOfL2011.

I’ll be at Brady Tavern for dinner to meet and greet with other Dining Out for Lifers, so feel free to stop by, say hello and maybe, if you’re up for it, have a little drinkie with me. If you want to be sure you have a seat, make a reservation by calling (918) 949-9801.
